A commanding, knowledgeable and confident presence. Fascinating leadership lessons from one who knows what it means to lead.
Corporate executives lead. Retired lieutenant-colonel Tom Christianson coaches them with powerful, from-the-trenches experience: the basics, leadership, teamwork and strategic planning skills. Tom received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in European history from the University of Wisconsin, then entered the United States army and attended Airborne Parachute School, Ranger School and Special Forces School before going to the Defence Language Institute. He served 12 of his more than 24 years of military service abroad, including a tour as aide-de-camp to the commander of land forces in Southern Europe.
He has taught European history at the United States Military Academy in West Point, and military history at both the Army Command and General Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, and at the University of Wisconsin. He speaks Italian, French, Spanish and German. Combat assignments have taken him to Grenada, Panama and the Persian Gulf, where he was a battalion commander. Tom has been decorated with the Silver Star, the Purple Heart and seven Meritorious Service Medals. He also heads up an historical tours company that has expeditions to Europe seven times annually.
