Canadian Journalism Legend
Peter flirts with a stand-up style, albeit one laced with great intellect.

Peter C. Newman enlightens corporate groups the world over on Canada’s ever-changing business, economic and political landscape. Maclean’s magazine had this most celebrated of Canadian authors as its editor-in-chief, as did the Toronto Star. His 22 books, which have sold a total of two million copies, are meticulously researched, amusing studies of political and economic powers on the march. John Kenneth Galbraith has described Peter’s books as “the best guide anyone will ever encounter to Canada and Canadians.” Peter’s best-seller, Titans: How the New Canadian Establishment Seized Power, was turned into a four-hour series that appeared on the Global Television Network.
Peter’s career has spanned five decades and he is the recipient of seven honorary doctorates and a number of the most prestigious awards in Canada, including a lifetime achievement award from the Canadian Journalism Foundation, an ACTRA for best television program, CBC’s Wilderness Award for best television documentary, the Michener Award for Journalism and a National Magazine Award for outstanding achievement. In 2005 Peter published his memoirs – Here Be Dragons: Telling Tales of People, Passion and Power, to rave reviews and robust sales, naturally.
"We were delighted and entertained by his humour. The lengthy question period was very clear evidence that he had provoked the minds and interest of our people."
