Dr. Gary Latham's work focuses on overcoming learned helplessness and embracing, rather than resisting disruption, to create a strong and confident team. He is the President of the Canadian Psychological Association and the Secretary of State Professor of Organizational Effectiveness and Professor of Organizational Behaviour at the University of Toronto.

Gary Latham is the only recipient of both the awards for Distinguished Contribution to Psychology as a Profession (1998) and to Psychology as a Science (2002) from the society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology of the American Psychological Association.

Latham received his B.A. in Experimental Psychology from Dalhousie University, his M.S. in Social-Industrial Psychology from Georgia Tech, and his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Akron.
