Alyson Schafer is a psychotherapist, parent coach and popular public speaker. She is the new parenting expert columnist for Today's Parent Magazine and one of the new regular guest experts on The Marilyn Dennis Show on CTV. She teaches parent education classes and works with parents one-on-one in her parent coaching practice. She is also the best selling author of "Breaking the Good Mom Myth"

Alyson is the host of television's "The Parenting Show" and is called on regularly by the media as a parenting expert. She has been featured in articles in Today’s Parent, Chatelaine, Canadian Living and Reader’s Digest. She has also been interviewed by the CBC and has appeared on TV shows like Planet Parent, Agenda, Health on the Line, W-Live with Erin Davis, and the CHCH Morning Show.

All of her work is based on the teachings of the famous psychiatrist Alfred Adler. She is a third generation Adlerian herself. Her father and grandmother were co-founders of the Alfred Adler Institute of Ontario, the precursor to the Adler School of Ontario where Alyson holds her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology.

Alyson brings a first-hand perspective of being raised in a democratic household, as well as formal clinical training and years of teaching experience in an Adlerian Nursery School.

PRINCIPLES, RULES AND TOOLS FOR DEALING WITH SIBLING RIVALRY

This presentation will discuss the special relationship that siblings have and the underlying dynamics that can fuel the fights between them. Parents will learn ways to diminish rather than intensify competition and rivalry and move towards more harmonious and loving relationships within the family.
