Musical entertainment: explosive fusion of rock, jazz & classical
Dynamic horn section, virtuoso solos and elegant vocal harmonies featuring the enormously talented lead singer Dan Clancy.
In 1968 jazz composer Paul Hoffert and rock drummer Skip Prokop asked guitarist Ralph Cole to join them in forming a 13-piece rock orchestra called Lighthouse. Ralph agreed and their explosive sound immediately captured the attention of a generation eager for musical innovation. Lighthouse's blend of hard-driving rhythms, jazzy horn lines and soaring orchestral arrangements attracted the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 1970, resulting in a ground-breaking collaboration and subsequent collaborations with symphony orchestras across North America as well as with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. More than 33 years later, the 10-piece Lighthouse features the original nucleus of Skip, Paul and Ralph and is wowing the nostalgic Boomer crowd — and a whole new generation!
“Lighthouse managed to reach out and grab every single member of the audience with the very first note … the energy level was astounding!”
